Seguin Visit

March 4, 2010

Historic Woods Family Home

We spent the night in Seguin, a historic frontier town founded in 1838 during the days of the Republic of Texas. Seguin’s history comes to life in the book, True Women by native Janice Woods Windle. Mrs. Virginia Woods, 92 year old mother of the author, had us to her historic home for tea. And, she served us treats from the True Women cookbook.

LBJ was a life-long friend of Mr. Woods and a frequent visitor.  LBJ once landed his helicopter in the street in front of the Woods’ beautiful home.

Thank you, Seguin, for the warm welcome.
